Gun penetration table
I would like to be this thread a little Stock for Penetration Tables for WWII Guns, so that everyone can look up some data to the diffrent guns and refer to it if need be. I would be happy if everybody who has some Tables from books or good sites in the net will post the link or a image here. German Guns Vertical plate, Distance in meters, M. Call me a commieboo, but I prefer the Kubinka table because they used random ammunition for all guns, especially captured German ammunition as it reflects upon battle conditions better than controlled ammunition testing batches, same penetration standard and less calculated values and conversions compared to the values from WWII Ballistics and Gunnery. To which penetration propability is this tested? Rexford's and Livingbird's tables are probably the best attempt at converting All penetration tables to one standard but most of them are very good calculations, not actual raw data.

These tables provide theoretical data on the results of naval shell impacts against armor in the World War II context. Calculations were performed using FaceHard version 5. The values calculated with later versions of FaceHard may provide slightly different results. Real-world gunnery involved innumerable additional factors such as barrel erosion, premature shell detonation, quality control in manufacturing, roll motion of the target - and on and on. Consequently, these tables suffice only as a measure of probability with no pretense to absolutes. Two shells may strike under seemingly identical conditions yet produce widely disparate results.

By Silavite , February 8, in General Discussion. This thread is meant to extrapolate on my observation that Gaijin seems not to have streamlined and converted penetration numbers from different countries; resulting in inaccurate figures due to different testing standards and criteria. Germany's criteria for testing penetrations was quite strict; probably the most strict of the ones that are relevant to War Thunder. Shells used were choice picked for testing, making them slightly more effective than most shells used in actual battle. A 'penetration' was defined as when a shell passed through the armored plate with the HE burster within intact and useful.
There are often only single points of penetration at range. Most firing tables must use the ballistics to compute penetration at ranges. Since none of this exists I will use the ballistics of similar shell of other known guns. Together with known data like weight and muzzle velocity I use the NaaB2 program to generate firing tables for guns of 37mm and greater. This checked against the few data points available.
